"Well, do you?"
"No, sorry, forgot mine in the car. Would you excuse me while I go grab it?"
So all of a sudden all these "Soul Inside" T-shirts start showing up, and there's little signs and chalked letters on sidewalks and things saying "Do you have a soul?" and such as that. Funny how I don't notice this until Suzanne mentions it the other day, but I'm me, I guess. Best I can make out, this is part of the Vast Christian Conspiricy to Convert the Masses. Which, when you get right down to it, is fairly offensive. Not just in the religious sense, either. I mean I get pissed whenever I see anything spammed to that degree. It's actually sort of sad when it's religion, because it seems to me that it demeans the beliefs of the believers to have to advertise in such a manner. OTOH, it's sort of a step below the Jehovah's Witnesses coming to the door every week. Annoying in either case. Which isn't to say I'm against advertising the faith, just I'd rather it was done nonintrusively. Oh well.
Enough on the Advertising Front. On the Academic Front, socialist competition has led the shock brigades to make great strides in achieving perfection. Or rather, I sat down last night, read 300 pages of Soviet propaganda from the 1930s, and wrote a paper on it this morning. Very tired and in need of nap now.
Posted by Dwip at April 30, 2003 3:15 PMI don't even understand why any Christian group would use that slogan as a sort of ad campaign, because according to Christian theology every person has a soul.

SOUL POWER! Go forth and listen, M/TMOG:TFAEOMM.
Posted by: Whir at May 2, 2003 3:05 PMIssues up to and including the idea that non-Christians don't believe they have souls, for instance, which ought to be fairly easily deniable. I didn't say it was GOOD annoying spam, just that it was annoying spam...
And it scares me that I know what M/TMOG:TFAEOMM actually means. Dross owns that song, btw.
Posted by: Dwip at May 2, 2003 3:12 PMM/TMO...wha?
Posted by: Regina at May 2, 2003 4:15 PMWe also pause to notice that this is only a very small minority of Christians who think this way. In fact, I think most Christians would condemn such a slogan.
Posted by: Regina at May 2, 2003 4:17 PMThere are Christians, and then there are Christians, as they say.
Machina/The Machines of God: The Friends And Enemies of Modern Music. Otherwise known as Machina II. Otherwise known as the last Smashing Pumpkins album.
Posted by: Dwip at May 2, 2003 6:30 PMDross does indeed own that song, but it fit and I felt like listening to it suddenly.
I'm not very Christian, but I still believe I've got a soul. What's the deal with there? Know what I mean? Silly relgions thinking they've got a patent on soul.
Besides, Dwip if you really thought about it, you'd probably know what UCWTNBOI stands for too. :D
