The hangover part of the week:
Thursday: Conference on the paper that's due in two weeks. I need to have a bibliography and maybe an outline together by then. Also a group meeting for my presentation next Thursday.
Friday: This'll be fun. 5-6 page Archives research paper due in HST 310. 5 page paper on the gulags due in HST 415. 10 page paper on Xenophon's Anabasis due in HST 421. I urge you all to remember that while I've done most of my archives research, I have yet to touch the books for either of the other two papers.
Next Tuesday: 3 articles with reports due for Anth.
Next Thursday: Archives research presentation due in HST 310.
2 Mondays from now: 10 page Historiography paper due, with serious bibliography, research, etc. I haven't even got a serious topic yet.
2 Wednesdays from next: Exam in HST 415. Comprehensive. 6-8 at night.
2 Thursdays from next: Exam in HST 421. 9:30-11:30am. I WILL be writing that entire time. Exam in Anth. 12-2pm. You will note the time, there. Yes, half hour break. That'll be lots of fun.
And then? And then I am free. Free at last.
Posted by Dwip at May 26, 2003 10:24 PMHow long do they give you to do these papers? Or do you just procrastinate a lot?
Posted by: Regina at May 28, 2003 2:18 PMI've known about the most of them all term. I mean, we get a syllabus at the beginning with all the assignments, which may or may not mean that said assignment is worthwhile to complete right then.
Archives paper - dependent on actually getting into the archives to do research, which didn't happen until last Friday. Not much to be done.
HST 415 paper - other than having 3 other of these papers, and the lectures being important, as well as having other books to read besides this one... Yeah.
HST 421 paper - I could and probably should have been doing work on this earlier. OTOH, I like to wait until late in the term to do papers, since I've heard enough lectures and such to do them effectively. That strategy just so happens to be biting me in the ass this term.
Articles - Sort of dependent on class. It's a 20 minute assignment anyway, so who cares?
Archives Presentation - assigned date. Whaddya gonna do?
Historiography paper - Like the HST 421 paper, I could and should've been doing this earlier, but for a variety of reasons including procrastination and other work, did not. Now it's biting me, where it would not in a normal term.
And the exams, obviously, I can do nothing about.
