Farewall, Merc Balac VTOL

We barely knew you. Or, actually, we knew you very well, because you were one of our single best pieces, but.

This would be the weekly MWDA post. I realize nobody actually plays besides me, but that's just too damn bad, isn't it? I need to gloat. ;)

So here I am, running this trippy 400 point randa-army of Malisa Nova Cat, Kym Nova Cat, some DF Raidens, and the ever-present Merc/RotS Balac VTOLs. My first game, I go up against the Artillery Army of Doom. I hate arty. I die. Badly. His RotS Crimson Hawk takes out my entire side, and I die a lot. Very sad. Malisa Nova Cat misses a 12 to hit alpha strike by 1.

Second game, I'm fighting a Steel Wolves army that I can't even remember, save that I smashed the living hell out of it and I don't think I lost a piece. Malisa Nova Cat actually hits a 12 to hit alpha strike.

Third game, I'm fighting the Davion Mech Army of Ultimate Doom, and I'm getting totally thrashed, losing Kym and a chopper, when all of a sudden all his guys die and I'm winning. Malisa Nova Cat not only misses the 10 to hit alpha strike by 1, she misses 3 rolls in a row where I need 10s by rolling 9s. Malisa, Malisa. Where did we go wrong? In any case, I handily dominate.

And I won fellowship again. LE Davion infantry, which I've recieved trade offers for. Wootage.

Speaking of trades, Mr. Merc Balac went out for a whole host of stuff, including 2 more assorted VTOLs, 3 assorted Mechs, and 10 or 15 infantry. This is good. Not having Mr. Merc Balac is bad, but I'll live.

And I picked up a Steel Wolves J-37 randomly. My transport worries are over.

I love this game.

You'll have to explain what the heck this MW:DA thing is, because I am growing increasingly unable to follow your blog entries. :P

Welllll, let's see. MW:DA, also known as Mechwarrior: Dark Age, is a miniatures wargame involving assorted large robots and assorted stuff stomping around beating the crap out of each other in the 32nd century. Has a storyline in common with Battletech, which you also hear me talk about. www.wizkids.com is the site in question.

The intracacies of the game probably make no sense unless you actually play it, though. :P
