Well, let's see. What's been going on in the world...
Besides homework the whole week, that is. Way. Too. Much. Homework. The. Entire. Freaking. Week.
In fact, I should be doing homework right now. But, in the words of somebody or another, fuck THAT shit.
Movies! We can watch movies! We can go see Tali and Laurent on Friday, who we haven't seen for 3 months and a month, respectively, and watch...Bowling For Columbine. Well, that's nice and uplifting. But that's ok. I'm me. I thrive on depressing movies. In fact, I want to see Boyz N the Hood again. Yeah. So anyway. Good flick, though the song it plays at the menu REALLY needs to go.
Oh, yeah. And it failed to resolve my opinions one way or the other on this whole guns thing. About the only thing I can actually think about the whole thing is that he's probably right about this whole "living in fear after media bombardment" thing, which ties directly into my own theory that yes, people really ARE amazingly stupid. Education is the key, folks. Educate the people, and you'll all end up like Canada. Yeah. Eh?
Anyway. So I get back, and I'm like "I feel like playing Tetris." So I download it, and I do. And I discover that I'm good enough to consistently get 66 or so lines, 74 at the best, and after about a day of not having played since 1994, I'm already getting the second best score. Ok, this is good. This is addictive, too.
Then we can get up and do some more homework. Oh baby. The excitement. Slow down. I can't take it.
So I play some more Tetris.
Fast forward to 11am this morning. It's Faction War time here in MWDA-land, which means enormous armies duking it out. Good times. People've been waiting for months. Prize support is rampant.
So I wake up, take a shower, check the clock, it's 11:20... Good, I figure. I don't need to be there until 12. But just to make sure, I'll check the time online. Go to Wizkids' site...11am? 11am? Oh CRAP!
*rushes out the door, only breaks one or two small traffic laws getting to the shop*
Fortunately, it started at 12. Unfortunately, two of the best players in the shop were playing my two factions, so I picked out Cats. Only two other people playing Cats. Woot.
My first game was depressingly easy. Send the infantry in as sacrificial fodder, run the mechs into the woods where they can't get killed, make his mech shut down...*blam*
The second game was trippy. I run out, he starts shelling me with artillery, but I'm doing ok, doing ok...*wham* he hits. Not doing so good now. But I somehow manage to engage his vehicles, shut down his arty. This is good. Meanwhile sending the sacrificial infantry to go take on his Warhammer IIC...oh, wait. They captured it, you say? With one click of life left? Needing 15s to capture? Score.
What it winds down to is: His Salamander battlesuits are gunning for my infantry on the mech, and if they kill them, the mech comes back up and I die. I declare the order to kill his last salvaged vehicles with my kinda hurt mech. Roll the dice...
"Time's up!"
*pantpantpant*
I end up winning on the strength of the captured mech and the just-killed stuff. Whoa.
And my third game is depressing. Kym Nova Cat gets herself captured first thing, none of my guys can hit anything...just wrong. Wrongfully wrong.
So I didn't win the tourney, but it wasn't for lack of trying. And since Rema rules, and gives out stuff a lot, we all went home with prizes. Mine just so happened to be a Republic of the Sphere Black Hawk, which is pretty damn cool. Also bought a couple of packs of Liao, but the less said about those, the better, because they mostly sucked.
And now, back to homework.
Posted by Dwip at October 12, 2003 8:18 PMAre we having fun yet, you ask? Oh yeah we are.
My things to do today:
--math homework
--history homework
--Latin homework
--write Scholium article
--polish entry for Latin contest-thingy
--go running
--fix blog stylesheet
--call Jonathan
--transfer marginal notes from old, beat-up Bible to new, not-yet-beat-up Bible
I can hold my own in this stuff-to-do contest. Thank God this was a 4-day weekend, because next weekend is going to be one of those weekends that's just an extension of the school week. PSAT's and school newspaper layout Saturday, then either AIDS walk w/ the cross-country team or more layout Sunday. Or, possibly, both. In addition to homework. W00t!
Posted by: Regina at October 13, 2003 7:28 AMYou're a slacker, Whir. A slacker. And we all know it. ;)
So it appears my workload is about to decrease marginally - I'm going to see about dropping a class either tonight or tomorrow. Being that I am, despite my best efforts, behind about 2 books now, not counting assorted other readings. Aeeyah.

Posted by: Dwip at October 13, 2003 1:00 PMWon't that, like, kill your plans for graduating after the spring quarter?
Posted by: Regina at October 13, 2003 2:48 PMMaybe. I should have 3 credits of upper division spare from my Japanese history class I took in '02.
I hate books. I hate them and I want them to die. Diediedie. Hurtkillmaimhackslaughterhurt. Argh.
