Lack of updates, you say? Let's just say it's been busy.
So after the family didn't get to see RotK Thursday (not Friday like I said, oops), I went with a whole bunch of people Sunday after playing some D&D with the gang, and...er, no, I didn't. All of that stuff occured, mind you, but I wasn't there.
So where was I?
About the time D&D was going on, I think I was napping, or trying to. Or maybe that's when I was throwing up. Can't remember. I slept through most of RotK though. Or at least I slept as much as you can when you can't really breathe.
Being sick sucks, let me tell you.
The worst of it, from my standpoint, isn't the fact I can't breathe. I can eat again, so that's cool. But it's reduced me from being energetic to the point where I'm exhausted simply getting a glass of water from the kitchen. Aeeyah.
Looks like it's going to go on for a couple more days, too. Looking like an influenza Christmas at this rate.
Still, I shouldn't be complaining too hard. A hundred years ago or so, and even more recently, they had outbreaks of the same sort of stuff I've got, and it killed thousands of people. This here's the good life, comparatively.
Anyway. As Toast so kindly pointed out over on the tagboard, Epic 37 is up on the Civ page. Go forth, read. I'd link it for you, but energy's fading again.
Posted by Dwip at December 22, 2003 9:29 PMupdates yay!
flu, ouch :s Take a shot of whiskey, I've heard it helps. And if it doesn't, well, you'll be a bit more relaxed hopefully ;)
Posted by: toasty at December 23, 2003 3:03 AMBeing sick = bad. Optimism = good.
I'm amazed that you managed to fall asleep at all during RotK. But then again, I fell asleep during Braveheart when I was sick. (At home, not in the movie theater, though.)
Posted by: Regina at December 23, 2003 4:54 AMHey, we didn't play D&D after all. It would have been just me and Matt as players, and that didn't seem like much fun. I suspect the adventure is just getting tougher and more complex the longer we wait, though!
Now RoTK, we did see. That's all I should say about that until you've seen it.
It was a flu Thanksgiving over here. No fun, no fun at all. I hope you're feeling better.
Posted by: Griselda at December 23, 2003 8:16 AMThanks y'all.
The good news for this morning - I'm not well, but I'm indescribably better. I can breathe and everything!
Didn't actually get to play D&D/see RotK. Was being a little, er, sarcastic or something, I suppose, in the fashion of "while everybody else was enjoying themselves at RotK, my life sucked". Apparently we're all going the weekend after Xmas though, and I'll be back on my feet by then. 'bout bloody time. I've wanted to see this movie since, like, 5 minutes after I walked out of FotR. :P
As for D&D, didn't realize it was down to 2 people. :| And we're in town right now, right? So worst thing that can happen is either another grey render comes through or the sparrow shows up. ;)
Or malevolent gods level the temple we're getting back to, which I suppose would be slightly disconcerting.
:P
Posted by: Dwip at December 23, 2003 10:12 AMMmm, Grey Renders! I through one at Tim once and he outran it. Then I threw one of those big plant things at him. I can't remember what they're called. But it ate two of his characters before I brought my NPC in to save him. I'm such a nice DM.
Posted by: Whir at December 24, 2003 3:18 AMTentriculous, I think.
Actually, the render wasn't scary. The two demon fights, those were scary. There's nothing quite like dropping to -9 multiple times and needing emergency healing to stay alive to get the blood flowing, as it were.
Posted by: Dwip at December 24, 2003 9:01 AMThat grey render was scary! It almost ate me. As for the demons, I couldn't do much damage to them, but they couldn't hurt me much either, iirc. If that shiny guy wants to play paladin, I can give it right back! :hammer:
Posted by: Griselda at December 24, 2003 10:11 AM*grin*
I think I forgot a "compared to" in there. The render almost got you, but the demons almost got *everybody*. Slightly more frightening to me. ;)
Though I imagine the sparrow will put them all to shame.
(I promise I'll shut up about the sparrow now. Honest. Put the knives down! Aieeeeee!)
;)
Posted by: Dwip at December 24, 2003 10:20 AMTentriculous sounds about right. Two tentacles, long body, eats things. Ate Tim.
I almost gave away what I was going to throw at Big T, then I remembered he reads occasionally.
He threw a young adult green dragon at us on Monday and we sent it packing. Barb 10s with +5 greatclubs and a 26 raging strength are fun to stand behind.
