So I'm holding, in my hands, right at this very moment, Rome: Total War. The goodness of this can perhaps be summed up by this Megatokyo strip, and let me say again that there IS a Megatokyo for everything in this life.
Now, before I go off to install RTW, let me point out two things. Firstly, the guy on the cover of the game sure is pissed off and screaming about something. Might I suggest that he's rather displeased at the decision to put a pair of chickens on the visor of his helmet? Just saying.
Also, I'm typing this from the laptop, because the big comp is currently generating terrain shadows for my BFV map, which apparently involves 16,777,216 samples at about 20k per second. And it goes through this process twice. So I could be here for a while.
Posted by Dwip at September 24, 2004 7:22 PMTouche, salesman. I too have Rome Total War.
And I'm loving it. Except for those flaming arrows burning up all three of my siege rams and the fact my troops can't sap and I had to walk away from Syracause. And those God-damnded Carthaginian elephants plowing through my hestarii or whatever. I did manage to deploy three cohorts into a loose formation, but then they rolled right through my entire army and hit the other three cohorts in tight column. Bad. Very bad.
Anywho ... I've only been playing it for two days and already I'm over 300 pages behind in textbook reading and assignments. I've decided to drop out of school and devoute my life to gaming.
Posted by: Marechal at September 25, 2004 6:38 AMYES! We have another one in our grasp!

You lie.
Unless you've learned to type with your feet.
:)
Posted by: Rachael at September 27, 2004 11:06 AMI can also type with one hand if I really want. :P
Or, if I really really feel like it, the corner of the box works, too. :P
Posted by: Dwip at September 27, 2004 12:13 PMI am the master at one-handed typing, dude.
Although no method is dorkier than when one of my exes in high school had his keyboard locked by his parents as a punishment. He made do with using the mouse to highlight, copy and paste--letter by letter, if need be--in order to talk to people and send emails.
Posted by: Rachael at September 27, 2004 12:30 PMMust not have heard of keymapper.
Remember that, Dwip? We laughed and laughed and you clicked and clicked.
Posted by: Whir at September 27, 2004 10:18 PMThat was pretty funny.
Posted by: Dwip at September 27, 2004 10:29 PMSo you've had it for this long and still haven't posted any screens? pfft ;)
Posted by: toasty at September 28, 2004 11:34 AMYeah, I'll second that. If I can post a Sims screen here and there, you can certainly do the same for your silly little game.
But if you keep them full size like you normally do, I'm not gonna waste the loading time. I have the patience of a non-english-speaking convenience store clerk. Sometimes also the belligerency.
