The secret to beating the evil Greek city states is to fight fire with fire: mercenary hoplites. Expensive bastards, especially when coupled with Thracian mercenaries and like a dozen cohorts of Cretan Archers, but yeah, I've finally figured out how to beat up on the Greek cities in Anatolia without suffering like 40% casualty rates amongst my regular Roman troops. Also, massacring the populations has its pros and cons.
