| Overview | |
| The Hasta, or spear, is the Marian Hegemony's second attempt at an aerial support craft. Based on the earlier Sagitta design, the Hasta was originally a 25 ton craft designated the Sagitta II, before testing led to increased mass and a heavier armament. The Hasta uses a reinforced version of the Sagitta airframe, and uses many of the same components as a cost-saving measure. Only two components are imported: the GM 180 turbine power plant and the Irian medium lasers, both from the Free Worlds League. | |
| Capabilities | |
| Learning lessons gained from the development of the Sagitta, the Hasta is a far more capable support aircraft. Mounting a pair of medium lasers alongside four rocket launcher pods, the Hasta is capable of extended strafing runs, even after the rockets run dry. Slower than the Sagitta, the Hasta has more then twice the armor, allowing it to survive in the face of enemy fire. | |
| Deployment | |
| The Hasta began rolling off the upgraded production lines at Marian Arms in late 3066. Mostly assigned to replace Sagitta losses in the Illyrian district, the Hasta has performed well, though Sagitta pilots used to the lighter craft's speed and handling have termed the less maneuverable Hasta the "porcus" (pig). | |
