| Overview | |
| In early 3064, Caesar Julius O'Reilly turned his attention to the
badly under strength ala of the Legions. The problem with simply
buying a ton of fighters was, simply, that there were not enough to go
around. What could be had, however, were conventional fighters and the
machines to make them.
By 3065, Marian designers had come up with the first indigenous fighter, which they named the Sagitta, or Arrow. Mounting all-Marian produced components, and produced by a Marian company, the Sagitta began rolling off the lines late in 3065, and was quickly deployed to various ala in the Illyrian and Lothian districts. |

| Capabilities | |
| The Sagitta fills a role somewhere between that of a proof of concept aircraft and that of a ground support fighter. Not especially fast, the Sagitta's main virtue is that it can carry a full ten pods of 70mm rockets. The full salvo from a Sagitta is capable of destroying a 'mech, but afterwards is left with nothing but a pair of machine guns for self defense. The fuel load, armor, and bomb capacity are similarly light. | |
| Deployment | |
| Currently, the Sagitta is deployed in a number of ala in garrison forces in the Illyrian and Lothian districts. In the Illyrian district, Sagittas have been extremely busy, flying dozens of support missions against guerilla forces, albeit with moderate losses. Pleased by the performance of the Sagitta, the Caesar has called for the development of a heavier, more capable version. | |
| Variants | |
| The first variant of the Sagitta, termed the 1H2, replaces all of the weapons of the 1H1 for four small lasers and four more heat sinks, all wing-mounted. The second variant, the 1H3, replaces both machine guns, the ammunition, and six of the rocket launcher pods for a medium laser and three heat sinks. Both versions offer greater loitering time, albeit at the expense of the firepower of the rockets. | |
