| Background |
| Born in 3027 as part of a creche of the Siegel
Bloodline, Conner proved to be the standout of his creche, putting his
inquisitive nature to good (and sometimes not so good) use. This
earned him a lifelong enemy, who is now a Star Captain in Alpha Galaxy[1]. He was likewise the star of his Sibko, passing his Trial of
Position with two kills and earning the rank of Star Commander as well
as the Nova that would carry him to the Inner Sphere[2].
His first assignment was to a Beta Galaxy trinary on Lum, shattered in the wake of a trial against Clan Wolf. In his first years he was more of an tech than a warrior, accompanying R-teams and supervising mech reconstructions[3]. His trinary, refitted, went on to fight in a series of trials to gain experience. While on assignment in the Periphery he picked up a new type of virus, which he barely survived, picking up an allergy to many of the drugs used to treat him[4]. Star Commander Conner emerged from the hospital just in time for the next Siegel Bloodname contest. Seen as a threat by the leader of his Bloodhouse, Conner failed to get a nomination, but managed to fight his way through the Grand Melee anyway, earning the Bloodname[5] and something more: A trip to the Inner Sphere. A deal with Clan Ghost Bear allowed Siegel to participate in the later stages of Operation Revival as an observer. He observed and fought as part of Delta Galaxy on Thessalonika and Maule[6], then participated in the cataclysmic battle of Tukayyid. It was here, during the fighting around Luk, that was ambushed by a ComStar unit. Critically wounded when a Black Knight's PPC destroyed his Viper's[7] cockpit, Conner was medevaced and spent much of the next year in a recovery ward. In the end, he lost his right hand and a finger from his left as well as his left leg[8]. The Snow Ravens believed themselves done with Conner. Granted a promotion to Star Captain and a Summoner omnimech, Conner was sent off to a solahma trinary on Lum. He spent the first part of his tour there refitting his unit and turning it into a proficient fighting force[9], only to see it sit, actionless[10]. Upset by his leadership, he was challenged by one of his Star Commanders, Uther, who was defeated in a Trial of Position[11]. Conner's Star Colonel, disgusted at the affair, kept his trinary out of battle where they languished for years. Conner's career seemed all but over[12]. Then the Diamond Sharks' 23rd Strike Cluster landed, seeking land from the Snow Ravens who were then preoccupied with the squabbles over Nova Cat and Ghost Bear territory. Even the Diamond Sharks, acquainted with the ways of the Inner Sphere, were hardly prepared for what happened. As it happened, the Sharks came through the area defended by Conner's trinary. Unfortunately for the 23rd, Conner had learned from his time in the Inner Sphere. Far from being angered at how the Comstar forces had ambushed, Conner instead admired his adversaries. Getting ahold of some Comstar tactical manuals[13], he had drilled his unit in the dishonorable combat tactics of the Inner Sphere, which he then put to use against the Sharks. The 23rd found itself bogged down trying to fight an enemy that was seemingly everywhere at once. After a week of this, with the rest of the Snow Raven defenders closing fast, the 23rd withdrew. Learning of the ways of Conner's defense, his Star Colonel, Edwin McKenna, challenged Conner to a Trial of Refusal for his actions. This proved to be unwise. Conner soundly trounced Edwin. Using what little influence he had left, Conner then convinced the saKhan to change the Trial of Refusal to a Trial of Position, and took command of what was renamed the 17th Raven Striker Cluster[14]. The 17th, formerly a solahma unit, rose in the world with Conner in command. Seeking to rebuild Beta Galaxy, the 17th was redesignated a Striker Cluster and filled with new warriors and new Omnimechs. [1] - Trueborn Creche, event 9 EDGed to 10
