A Brave New World

And the next turn... Polytheism, Currency, Monarchy, Construction, Monotheism, and we're suddenly very Medieval. Turn after that, Engineering comes in. Theology the turn after that, and Fuedalism the turn after that. In 690 BC, Education comes in, and that's the end of that. A decent dent, at any rate.

In 610, I suddenly realize I forgot totally about switching to Republic, and do so, drawing a mere 2 turn anarchy. I pop out of it, and in 550 BC trade incense, spice, and 40 gold to France for Astronomy and Invention. Gems and my map to Ghandi get me Gunpowder, and Gems and Horses to Korea gets me Chivalry, 40 gold, 7 gpt, and Korea's map.

Suddenly remembering, and realizing I have tons of gold, I quickly establish embassies with the world. Also in 530, I sell off my warriors, since us peaceful Carthaginians don't need any smelly guys with stone axes to guard us.

490 becomes all about buying Banking for 220 gp + map from Joan. In 390, 100 gp + map buys Printing Press. 160 gold for Economics in 330, as well as 240 gold for Chemistry. In 270, Joan gets 360 gold and my map for Democracy, but we hold off on the switch in the hopes of snagging a wonder or two from the cascade. As Shakespeare, Sun Tzu, and Leo wipe out on the very next turn, the future doesn't look too hopeful, but we can but try. Magellan's goes the turn after that. In 190 BC, Joan gets 255 gold for Physics. Another 255 is sufficient for Metallurgy. With 6 turns left, Smith's goes to Korea in 170 BC, and Leptis Magna gets a way overpriced cathedral.

In 70 BC we make the final trade for Industrial, snagging ToG from Joan for 280 gold and the map. Nationalism is on the table, but I can't afford it. I can, however, make the most overrated horses deal known to all mankind:

In 30 AD, I make the trade for Steam Power (A mere 540 gold), JUST as all my workers finish what they're doing, and then I find I have coal. And had I moved Theveste one south like I had planned originally, I'd be going for the Iron Works. Ah well. A couple of turns later, Industrialization comes in, and it's factory time. What's more, it's time to 4 turn it to Democracy.

And for today's humor shot:

More gold to Joan gets us Medicine and the Corporation. A few turns later, 1450 gold, gems, and spices nets Electricity, Refining, and Steel. A couple turns later, gems and 250 gold for Replaceable Parts. STILL down by Nationalism. Of course, it occurs to me, looking at the science screen, that I hadn't known that Nationalism was an unessential tech this entire time. Oops.

And then, a few turns later, 1050 gold for SciMeth/Combustion. Isn't this FUN? Aren't you just THRILLED reading this report? I trade 800 gp for Sanitation and Mass Production as soon as ToE comes in. And it didn't take long. I'm in an awful lot of trouble, here. Also, Atomic Theory is currently the most expensive thing on the planet. So, wait for France to blow a lot of cash, then buy it and Flight for a bunch of money. I snag Wall Street because I can, then snag Electronics from Joan. We are, count it, 2 techs away from the UN. In 470, Radio comes in for the world. Wang Kon is the only one with Rocketry. Everyone pulls in Computers, but I hold off, waiting on the UN. 2400 gold to Joan for Fission, and 6 turns to the UN...5...4...3...2...1...giant amounts of gold to everyone...our people want to build Battlefield Medicine...Pollution at Utica...

Well, that was a total non-event. Spaceship time.

The very next turn, SETI and Manhattan fall. Close.

1950 gold to Joan for Rocketry.

2450 gold to Joan for Space Flight, Apollo in 4...3...2...1...

And there was much spaceship part production.

Or, as the case may be, not.

767 score, RBCiv-24 the Meek.
