| To make an exceedingly long and tedious story short, my expansion
phase involved a lot of settlers out of my first two cities, almost
totally unhampered by the local hicks, who for some reason or another
were more passive and unresponsive than usual. Techwise, I went Bronze
Working->Iron Working->Pottery->Alphabet->Writing->Map
Making, for the purposes of colonizing the island to the southwest. That
didn't quite occur, as it happens:
Abe, as it happens, knows the Aztecs. And there's a purple border off to the southeast that may or may not be the Iroquois or the Indians. In any case, a turn later, our last city completes, and Celtland looks like this:
Said Aztecs come sailing up a couple of turns later. Hi Aztecs! Map Making comes in a turn or so after, and we throw away some prebuilds for a couple of galleys. Well, actually that purple border was Carthaginian brown, but who's counting? Rather sadly for the world, nobody knows each other, and I, well, I do. Yes, Monty, your territory map, Masonry, the Wheel, and Mysticism will do for a start. Yes, Abe, your territory map and Horseback Riding will also do. Carthage knows people, too:
And there's a certain amount of glee available from poaching:
260 AD - Oops, the max sci run on Literature worked. Say, Abe, how about Math and the world map for it? Yes? Good. Code of Laws, Polytheism, and Currency all come in as well. Now, is the world map worth anything? The short answer is yes, about 100 gold's worth. 360 AD - Wherever France came from, she's here now. And she knows the Japanese and Zulu, and so does everybody else. And I haven't established embassies yet. In 390 AD, Lincoln demands wines. Gonna hafta go with a no on that one. |
